Another victory for Pieterse in Zonhoven
The 12th leg of the Cyclo-cross World Cup in Zonhoven unfolded with Lucinda Brand and Puck Pieterse emerging as top contenders. Pieterse took the win after a crash by Brand.
Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Deceuninck) faced an early setback with a flat tire but demonstrated remarkable resilience, swiftly recovering from the setback. Meanwhile, Lucinda Brand (Baloise Trek Lions), leading the pack, encountered a significant fall in the third round, leading to her unexpected exit from the race.
Undeterred by the challenges, Pieterse took charge, securing a 7-second lead over Inge van der Heijden (Crelan - Corendon), which she expanded to an impressive 20 seconds by the final round. The top three positions seemed firmly established, with Pieterse claiming the first spot, Van der Heijden in the second, and Bäckstedt (Canyon//SRAM Racing) in the third.
Puck Pieterse maintained her dominance, navigating the course with finesse and crossing the finish line with authority. Her resilient performance not only secured her victory in the race but also solidified her standing as a rider to be reckoned with in the world of cyclo-cross.
