Dwars door Vlaanderen and the city of Waregem extend their partnership until 2031

Road  28/11/2024

Dwars door Vlaanderen has announced that the finish line of the classic will remain in Waregem for the next seven editions. Until 2031, Waregem and the spring classic, held on the Wednesday before the Tour of Flanders, will be linked. The start, finish, and finale will remain the same, while the course in the hilly zone will undergo some changes.

Dwars door Vlaanderen and the city of Waregem have been working hand in hand for many years, and there will be no change in this for the upcoming editions. The contract between both parties has been extended until 2031, much to the excitement of the city in full gallop.

Thus, next year, the finish line for both elite races will remain on the Verbindingsweg in Waregem. Unchanged, the women's race will start in the shadow of the HippoLoggia, at the famous horse track, one of the main attractions of the city of horses. On April 2, they will face a 128.5 km race. The men, on the other hand, will start in Roeselare, as in previous years, before being presented with a 184 km route towards Waregem.

Eikenberg in the course

Unchanged is the presence of the Knokteberg, just like Waregem and Roeselare, which are inseparably linked to Dwars door Vlaanderen. The passages at the Hippodrome in the final stretch will also remain for both the men and the women, as well as the double passages over Nokereberg and the cobbles of the Herlegemstraat. What will change is that in 2025, the Men Elite will climb Berg Ten Houte twice. For the women, this climb will appear once. After that, the remaining 70 km for both men and women will be identical. In the final stretch, riders will face the Eikenberg between the passages over the cobblestones of the Mariaborrestraat and Doorn, replacing the Ladeuze. The Kanarieberg will also no longer be part of the course in 2025.

The announcement of the participating teams in the search for successors to Marianne Vos and Matteo Jorgenson will take place after the New Year.
