The grueling course in Dendermonde delivered exactly what cyclo-cross fans had hoped for: a demanding mud battle where only the strongest prevailed. Starting further back in the field, Wout van Aert (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) wasted no time and quickly worked his way to the front during the opening laps. With powerful efforts and smart line choices, he closed the gap to the race leaders.
Once at the front, Van Aert shifted into a higher gear. With an exceptional pace and flawless technique, he distanced his rivals with ease.
